In the 1960s, when jeans went from being a cowboy uniform to becoming more commonplace, denim jackets, which had previously had a boxy silhouette, began to demand a more form-fitting fit while still allowing for a comfortable range of motion. The so-called "third model" was the prime example of this. The high, rolled sleeve seam, which is the most difficult part of the third model for seamstresses, is also a distinctive feature of this model. This denim, a reproduction of Banner denim, features a brown cotton-blend denim with a black warp thread. Like the indigo "Nakajiro" (white-in-the-middle) denim, this black denim is sulfur-dyed, leaving the center white. The uniqueness of each brown cotton is evident in the depth of the black denim. Another distinctive feature of this model is the high, rolled sleeve seam, a major challenge for seamstresses when creating a third-generation denim. The sleeves of vintage third-generation denim have been interlocked since its predecessor, highlighting the preciousness of the rolled seam.
